Regular Users

Offord Village Hall is a well-used venue. Details of the most regular groups and clubs are listed here.

Our age-appropriate training for children from 4 years, focuses on building a strong foundation in the martial arts that acts as a base for our character development programme, which teaches children the values of respect, courtesy and self-discipline.  Your child will gain confidence, learn to pay attention, and follow directions, improve their fine motor skills and gain a positive “I can do it” attitude.

We teach our students how perseverance leads to success in martial arts, at school and in life!

Classes are held on a Monday evening between 4pm-6pm

OGA is a village association which dates back to 1945.  Although it closed in 1972 when membership was low it was restarted in the 1980s.

The records show the Association promoted “Dig For Victory” and other incentives towards self-sufficiency.  The membership slowed in 1990-2000 but in recent years it has seen a steady number of members.  With the recent lockdowns there has been an increase in the interest in gardening, so we hope to have more members in the future.

OGA meets in the Village Hall at 7-30 pm on the third Thursday of the month with a guest speaker.  Over the year we try and cover all aspects of gardening with a member’s competition and a raffle.  We also invite all members and village residents to participate in our spring and summer shows with trophies awarded.  In addition we occasionally organise social events, garden visits locally as well as gardening related trips

OGA is affiliated to the RHS and so have access to all the latest information and advice to solve member’s problems and to promote all aspects of gardening

We always welcome new members and promote a ‘come and see policy’.  Attend a meeting as a visitor for a small entrance fee and if you like what you see we welcome you to join as a member for a competitive annual fee.

The Thursday Club was formed in 2011 after an idea to use the Village Hall and kitchen for a community group and was brought to fruition by Kathy Millward and Sheila Reece.  The main objective was to become a club where people could find a friendly atmosphere and companionship whenever they attended.  Holidays, theatre trips, meals out were also what was wanted, and the first meeting took place on 7 April 2011 with ten members.

The Village Hall waived the hire charge at the beginning to allow the club to establish and after six months the club was able to pay the hire charge and repay the previous months.  There have been many lunches, enjoyable holidays and trips over the last ten years as well as raising money for charities.

The club meets every Thursday from 12 until 2pm and now has over thirty members.  We look forward to meeting up again and always welcome new members of any age or gender.

Our Chairman, Doreen Rowbury 811025 is always happy to chat and give more information about the club.

The Offord Players have been established for 25 years and have been putting on performances, several times a year, in the hall.  In preparation for a performance the group meet Tuesday 7.30 pm (except second Tuesday of month) and Sunday 7 pm.  New members are always welcomed to participate in front or behind the wings.
